My idea for cleaning up mines in the west and elsewhere: backfill mines with SMS from appropriate species:
oyster seems to have good results as a filter from what I understand having read Stamets' work and attended his seminars, which may alleviate groundwater seepage issues from mines. More direct-action style, one could pair fungi known to hyper-accumulate certain heavy metals to uptake tailing contaminants from soil, dry the fruiting bodies, and have significantly reduced toxic waste dispersion; the solution is not dilution.
soil secrets... not thrilled with their proprietary approach, but hey, "everyone's gotta eat", right?
